This is the first unofficial FM radio app for the Nokia N9 / N950.

It is based on a modified fmrx code by javispedro to accept new frequencies on stdin, and a GUI.

Like with the original fmrx, you might need to reboot your device after the first installation for it to work. You also need to plug in headphones for the antenna, and might need to re-plug your headphones after a reboot. Everything else should be straightforward.

FM Radio for Nokia N9 / N950 / MeeGo Harmattan

Still TODO: Make it possible to save stations, display RDS info in the QML UI. It would also be nice to be able to switch the output to the speakers.

If you get a really bad battery drain check out this bug report https://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/show_bug.cgi?id=486 Possibly related to developer mode, but simply moving an icon in the launcher screen can fix it! [Rate: 9/10]

Excellent sound in the radio but I got the "Battery Draining Detected" problem too (quite bad one), which I haven'y been able to fix yet. Any ideas how to solve the draining problem. Uninstalling the app and rebooting N9 does not help. I assume radio is still on... Rating is 0/Junk becuase of this BAD problem. [Rate: 0/10]

Got it working fairly easily following the guidance and it works extremely well. One thing to watch out for that isn't directly caused by FMRadio. I ran into the MeegoTouchHome battery draining bug (50mA idle) afterwards that could be solved using tricks mentioned elsewhere without uninstalling it... [Rate: 9/10]

To install; open "settings">"security">"developper mode". Your device will prompt you to install a suplementary package, accept, device will reboot after installation. You can switch off the dev mode, Fm Radio will work then... Yes, it worked. You must try ... [No rate]

O my god.. it works!!! And I'm using the latest meego update too. You're the best. Well, it resets everytime you close the app but fix is on the way and I dont mind tuning it. It also works when i link it with my Nokia Wireless receiver, with the earphone plug in of course for now. So, Nokia did a good job for including a FM receiver hardware thus making my N9 an envy of phones right now who relies on data plan to play music over internet radio stations. Kudos to the community! This is the app I was waiting for!!! There are some cosmetic adjustment required as: - control with lock screen - stations search - nicer icon - RDS - stations memory - nicer interface (I love this black simple theme on this one though...) - on/off to find next frequency -Bluetooth starting (apparently FM radio is on the same chip?) PS. I had problems starting the app. You need: - developer mode (I could not install using home WIFI but at work went well) - reboot - headset is not required, it works without but really bad, It is not must BIG THANKS!!! I see, a lot of people score this app as 1/10. This is unfair, but hope this just motivate you, not discourage :-) [Rate: 10/10]

This application worked perfectly, upon immediately rebooting, with Developer mode enabled. For the curious, I have the following developer packages installed: Networking, Performance, Utilities, and Logging. You probably don't need all of those packages installed, but I don't think it would harm anything to list that information out. Worked with the pair of headphones shipped with the device, too. Also, very cool, minimalistic interface. Great job. [Rate: 9/10]
